I know that if I sell to a Fairtrade buyer that I'll get fair treatment.

Ripon Fairtrade

Ripon Fairtrade Events 2009

The Ripon Fairtrade Action group formed early in 2008 to work towards achieving Fairtrade City status for Ripon. It includes representatives from several churches in Ripon, plus members of the business community. We have held coffee drop-ins at the Town Hall and stalls in the Market Place, working with Sainsburyís during Fairtrade Fortnight to raise our profile. The City Council have agreed to support the campaign, which this year will aim to involve local schools. Ripon College had a Fairtrade Day on March 2nd , and Fifth Formers at The Grammar School will be having a presentation about Fairtrade in lessons on April 1st .

The first photograph shows children from Fountains School in Grantley taking part in the 'Go Bananas' challenge for Fairtrade Fortnight 2009.

The second photo shows Linda Scannell, Chair of Ripon FT Action Gp, and Dianne Thew, member of the group and a Traidcraft Fairtrader, presenting the Mayor of Ripon, Councillor Sid Hawke, with some teas and coffees for Ripon Council, to mark their vote supporting the goal of Fairtrade status for Ripon.
